2010 NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS (NJDOC) CAPTAINS PROMOTIONAL EXAM PREP COURSE:
A Promotional Exam Prep Course for NJDOC Lieutenants preparing for the upcoming Captains exam is tentatively scheduled to begin on Tuesday, February 2, 2010. The course will be held at the Pennington Road Fire Company, Ewing Twp., NJ (see directions tab). The course will be at least 16 sessions and at times, may run twice a week, twice a day. Initially the course will be held on Tuesdays with Thursdays as a back up in case of snow or other weather conditions. As the program continues and the exam date is known, changes in the schedule are possible. The times for this course are from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and/or 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The morning session will be identical to the afternoon session, to accommodate individuals on shift work. You should plan to attend at least one session per week and all 16 classes if you want to be successful. The course will cover all aspects of the upcoming exam such as Title 10A, Interpersonal Relations, Supervision, Report Writing, Analysis of Written Material, and Effectiveness of Expression. Results for this type of exam have been excellent. The following books will be utilized during this training: “NJ Administrative Code Title 10-A” which can be ordered from Lexus-Nexus Publications at 1-800-424-4200, ISBN# 9780820566153. The current price is $95 and this is the 3 ring binder with a one year subscription which will keep your copy up-to-date. The next is “The Effective Corrections Manager: Correctional Supervision for the Future”, 2nd edition by Richard L. Phillips and Charles A. McConnell, Jones and Bartlett Publishers, ISBN-10: 0763733113 ISBN-13: 9780763733117. Another book that I recommend is “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Grammar and Style” by Laurie E. Rozakis, ISBN# 1-59257-115-8. Both of these books can be ordered through Edcon Press at 1-908-272-7765, ask for Mary. Generally my students receive a discount with that company. 2010 COUNTY CORRECTIONS PROMOTIONAL EXAM PREP COURSE:
A Promotional Exam Prep Course for those in County Corrections is forming. The course will be held primarily at the Pennington Road Fire Company, Ewing Twp., NJ (see directions tab). The course will be at least 16 sessions and at times, may run twice a week, twice a day. A flexible schedule will be developed to cover all items that Civil Service has indicated will appear on the upcoming exam in May/June 2010. Depending on enrollment, the course will probably run dual track, both in the morning and evening hours, in order to accomodate those on shift work. You should plan to attend all 16 sessions if you want to be successful. The course content will cover Situational Judgment and Interpreting & Understanding Policy for those testing for Sergeant. Of course Title 10-A, Chapter 31 will also be taught to all ranks. Those testing for Lieutenant and Captain will have subjects on Interpersonal Relations, Supervision, Report Writing, Scheduling, and Effectiveness of Expression. 2010 LAW ENFORCEMENT ENTRANCE (LEE) EXAM PREP COURSE:
The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has changed the tentative date for their 2010 Law Enforcement Entrance Exam from May to Fall 2010. A course to prepare those individuals who want to be NJ Law Enforcement Officers will form for this 2010 exam. The CSC is now stating that an exam will be announced on June 1, 2010 and an exam tentatively scheduled for sometime in the Fall of 2010. Class dates will be scheduled once the official announcement is made by the Civil Service Commission. My course not only covers the test itself but all aspects of the hiring process. This course is for those who truly want to receive more for less and that is why they will take my 4 week long course. I anticipate starting the course in the early part of September 2010. A course application will be available in June. I anticipate that the early registration discount for this 32 hour program will be $425. 2010 NJ JUVENILE JUSTICE COMMISSION (JJC) SERGEANTS EXAM PREP COURSE:
A Promotional Exam Prep Course for NJJJC Officers preparing for the upcoming Sergeants exam is forming. The course will be longer and depending on enrollment, be offered twice a day, probably from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and/or 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The morning session will be identical to the afternoon session. This is to accomodate those individuals on shift work. The course will cover all aspects of the upcoming exam such as Title 13, Interpersonal Relations, Supervision, Report Writing, Analysis of Written Material, and Effectiveness of Expression. The last time this course was offered, I had a student score number one and is a Sergeant today. Call now to pre-register and to be placed on my mailing list. Additional details will be posted as the course date gets closer. A tentative test time of late June/July has been announced.

2010 MUNICIPAL POLICE PROMOTIONAL EXAM PREP COURSE:
A course to prepare those individuals who will be taking this years municipal police promotional exams will begin on June 1st. The course will be held on most Tuesdays and Thursdays during the summer dual track from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and/or 6:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. The course will cover the topics that Civil Service has indicated may be on your exam. A registration form is available on the index tab of this site indicating an early registraion discount of $1,800 for this four month long course. Call now to pre-register since limited space is available. The Civil Service orienation guide and application for Lieutenants and Captains will be available around June 1st and for those taking the Sergeants Exam around July 1st.
